BEAUTY BUZZ Are You Ready For Fall?
By Karol Young Moses

It’s that time again.  Put away that bronzing powder, skin shimmer, and sheer nail polish.  Fall has arrived!  This season’s color trends reflect the leaves of Autumn.  Burnished coppers and browns, mossy greens, and passionate plums and berries are all the rage.  Here are some basic guidelines to help keep you in the know.

When it comes to eyes, it’s all about the brows.  Make sure yours are groomed impeccably!  Keep them fuller and shapely, not thin and overly-tweezed.  Fill in where necessary with a soft shade of powder.  Tame unruly brow hair with a clear gel or mascara.   Brows are the perfect frame for the new crop of eyeshadows which go from matte to sheer-shimmer, nothing too sparkly.  Mixing and matching non-traditional color is back (think 80’s) with a decidedly contemporary flair.  You won’t go wrong pairing yellow-golds with blues, soft peach with deep purple/plum, or sheer mauve with rustic brown.  The smoky eye is here to stay it seems.  Instead of black and dark brown lids, go with deep blue or green, purple, or slate gray.  Or keep it simple with neutral shadows and a pop of colored eyeliner.  Lashes also take center stage, either natural and nude or bold with individual or strip lashes added for dramatic effect.
Great skin is always in no matter what the season.  Be sure to exfoliate and hydrate on a regular basis. Although the matte look is back, use a light touch with your foundation, powder and concealer to avoid a “cakey” appearance.  Cheeks should be warm and neutral, not bright and pink or red.  Or simply contour and highlight with colors natural for your skintone.

Lips and nails alternate between the opposite ends of the color spectrum.  Whether lips are glossy, natural or matte use deep plum, berry, and brick to match nails or go totally nude with a neutral lip and nail color.  Lip liner is invisible this season, so make sure to exfoliate your mouth and the surrounding skin to help minimize feathering.  Remember, strong lips need neutral eyes and vice-versa.
