A Glam Girl’s Guide to Taking on the Day with Grace and Style
Good News etc.
June 2006 Issue
This month, as promised, a change of pace. As a rule of thumb, we generally try to review one book per month, but this month and next, we’re going to review two books in each column. It’s unusual to find four short books that are not only quick reads, but that we can actually recommend to you -- but we have.
The next book is not usually found in my normal reading bill of fare. However, when it arrived in a stack of books from our beloved editor with a note attached that read, A good book to review, I immediately dropped all else, postponed my open heart surgery, called the widow of a boyhood friend recently deceased, telling her something pressing had come up and I would be unable to attend the funeral, and began pouring over the pages of, “Girl’s Have Style at School”.
This “Glam Girl’s Guide to Taking on the Day with Grace and Style” is by Oceanside resident Elaine Swann from WS Publishing and is a book I wish was around when my daughter was growing up. I think it’s message is timeless enough that it will still be worth conveying when my two little granddaughters get to the age they need to hear it. (In fact, the book will soon be in the mail to my son – it’s never too early to start). Swann comes well prepared to this book after a career on TV as the resident etiquette expert in San Diego for NBC 7/39. “The whole concept behind etiquette is being considerate of other people,” she said.
