Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa were lovely—and bountiful. But you may be surrounded by gifts you don’t have much use for or, fess up, just don't like. If you're thinking about returning or regifting, heed this expert advice for doing it the right way.
Regifting
This practice often gets a bad rap for being tacky, but there’s no denying its benefits—clearing clutter in your home, saving cash on future gifts for later in the year, and possibly delighting a special person in your life. San Diego–based lifestyle and etiquette expert Elaine Swann gives a thumbs up to regifting when done correctly. "There’s nothing wrong with regifting," she says. "But it’s important that you’re thoughtful about it. If the gift matches the person’s interest or character, it’s perfectly fine."
